Cheese

This week’s cheese is Mecox Sunrise from Mecox Bay Dairy.  Mecox Sunrise is a washed rind semi-hard cheese aged for 2 to 4 months and is named for it’s characteristic orange rind.  It has a more intense flavor than the Shawondasee.  it is made in 7″ diameter, 2″ thick wheels.  Mecox Sunrise was awarded second place in it’s category at the 2004 American Cheese Society annual competition in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
